Ingredients You Need
Peanut Butter Rice Krispies
- mini marshmallows
- butter
- vanilla extract
- Reese’s peanut butter or smooth peanut butter
- Rice Krispies Cereal
Peanut Butter Layer
- powdered sugar
- Reese’s peanut butter
- butter, softened
Chocolate Peanut Butter Layer
- Ghirardelli 60% semi-sweet chocolate chips or or dark chocolate melts for dipping
- Reese’s peanut butter chocolate chips
- Reese’s Peanut Butter
How to Make Buckeye Rice Krispie Treats
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Peanut Butter Rice Krispies
- Melt butter in large saucepan, then add marshmallows and stir until melted.
- Add peanut butter and vanilla until combined, remove from heat.
- Stir in crispy rice cereal and then press into greased 13×9 pan.
- Let cool.
Peanut Butter Mixture Layer
- Whiles rice krispies are cooling, beat confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, and ½ cup softened butter together in a bowl until smooth and creamy, then spread over cooled peanut butter rice krispie treats.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Layer
- Heat chocolate chips and peanut butter chips together in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave, until melted, about 1 ½ to 2 minutes, add peanut butter and whisk together well and spread over peanut butter layer.
- Cool and cut into squares. Dare to sprinkle some sea salt on top!
Expert Tip
- Put rice krispie buckeye bars in refrigerator for 10 – 15 minutes or more for easier cutting. Don’t keep them in too long, or they are too hard to cut and they’ll have to come down to room temperature.
- Place the rice krispie bars in an airtight container.
