Brownies + Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Buttercream Frosting
Yep, that is what I said. I ask you…does it get any better than that? Could it, really? Well, I can think of a few ways, unless you just want to eat cookie dough frosting, which is totally fine, I won’t tell.
Oh, a few other ways? Cupcakes, cakes, brownies and cookies. The ‘chosen one’ for this post, is brownies! I love brownies! We have always had a ‘lust’ thing for each other. 🙂
Add a little chocolate chip bling to that glorious cookie dough buttercream, and you get the best brownies! Everyone will go bonkers over these sweet treats, that are awe-mazing!
Ingredients You Need
Brownies (OR you can use boxed Brownies, using their instructions.)
- dutch-processed cocoa powder
- baking soda
- butter
- boiling water
- granulated sugar
- eggs
- pure vanilla extract
- salt
- all purpose flour
Cookie Dough Buttercream Frosting
- butter
- cream cheese softened
- brown sugar
- powdered sugar
- salt
- vanilla extract
- mini chocolate chips
How to Make Cookie Dough Brownies
Brownies
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Grease or spray with non-stick spray a 9×13″ baking dish: set aside. Line pan with parchment if you want easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cocoa and baking soda.
- Pour in ⅓ cup of the melted butter and whisk until smooth.
- Stir in the boiling water until the mixture is smooth. (It will be thick.)
- Whisk in the sugar and eggs with the remaining ⅓ cup melted butter.
- Add the vanilla and salt and whisk until just incorporated.
- Add in the flour and stir until just combined.
- Pour and spread the batter into baking pan.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes and do not over-bake.
- Cool completely in the pan before frosting.
Cookie Dough Buttercream Frosting
- Add the butter and cream cheese to a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Add the powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt to the bowl and continue mixing until smooth and creamy.
- Frost the completely cooled brownies and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips!
Here’s another cookie dough frosting, if you don’t want to use cream cheese in the frosting!

Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Buttercream Brownies
Ingredients

- ¾ cup dutch-processed cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅔ cup butter 1/3 cup + 1/3 cup, melted & divided
- ½ cup boiling water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ⅓ cups all purpose flour
Cookie Dough Buttercream Frosting
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- ¾ cup light or dark brown sugar packed
- 3 cups powdered sugar Add more if needed
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup to 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
