How to Heat Treat Flour for Frosting
By heat treating flour, we have 2 methods that will kill any harmful bacteria that may be present and it will make raw flour safe to consume.
- Microwave Method: First start by treating your flour. Spread the flour on a large plate or baking dish to fit in your microwave. Microwave for about 1 minute, adding additional 15 second increments as needed, until the flour reaches a temperature of 160 F. (90 seconds works perfectly for me)
- Oven Method: Heat treat the flour by spreading it out on a baking sheet and baking it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
Whisk the flour to break up the flour chunks and let it cool down before using to make cookie dough frosting recipe.
To Make Vegan – Simply substitute vegan butter, non-dairy milk and vegan chocolate chips! Easy & delish!
More Variations? Add mini mint chocolate chips, chopped Andes mints, mini m&m’s, chopped peanut butter cups, crushed peppermint, toffee chips, Oreo crumbs and so on! You can really go to town coming up with flavor variations!
