Apple Layer

  • 4-5 large apples, sliced or chopped (about 6-7 cups of of the best apples, like Gala apples, McIntosh, Fuji, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples make good choices for baking apples in desserts)

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Spray an 8×8 or a 2 qt. baking dish with cooking spray, set aside. 
  2. Toss the sliced apples, flour, cinnamon and sugar together and spread out in prepared pan.

Apple Layer

  • 4-5 large apples sliced or chopped (about 6-7 cups of Gala, McIntosh, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar of choice
  • ½ tablespoon flour of choice optional
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Crumble Crisp Topping

  • cup flour of choice such as white, spelt, or oat or use gluten-free flour or almond flour for a gluten-free option
  • 1 ¼ cup rolled or quick oats use gluten-free oats if wanting gluten free option
  • cup pecans or walnuts chopped, optional
  • cup brown sugar use ½ cup if you want less sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes or you can use oil
