  • That’s because the base of the puppy chow mix on the corn Chex consists of peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips, basking in powdered sugar. Umm…that works for me!

  • I’m not a candy corn person, but have you tried the White Chocolate Candy Corn M&Ms?  They are amazing!  You can add these or any M&M flavors flavors you want, preferably fall or Halloween colors, like the M&M Campfire S’more candy, the Halloween Ghoul’s M&M Mix and the Cocoa Crispy M&M’s are just a few!  You can also use Reese’s Pieces for another option!

Halloween Party Chex Mix Tips

  • When you make puppy chow, muddy buddies or whatever you call them, make sure you coat them entirely with the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture for the first step.
  • We used equal parts of each to get the creamy, chocolate coating on all the nooks and crannies of the Chex cereal.
  • If you add too much cereal, then the powdered sugar won’t adhere to the chocolate-peanut butter mixture. Melt some more chocolate and peanut butter if happens to be the case.
  • The other thing you want to do is, let them slightly cool and then coat them powdered sugar.  If you add the powdered sugar to coat the Chex mix while it’s warm, it will soak up the powdered sugar. Then you’ll have to add more, which is fine, but you’re adding extra sugar.
  • When mixing the chex mixture and the powdered sugar together, you can use use ziplock bags and shake the mixture together or find a large bag or large sealed container to gently toss everything around in.
