More Smoothie Love!
We love smoothies from Peanut Butter Banana Protein Smoothie to healthy Dark Chocolate Raspberry & Banana Smoothie and our Blueberry Oatmeal Protein Smoothie too!
They are the perfect meal prep and an easy way to keep our mornings on track!
A smoothie for breakfast helps you get hydrated at the start of the day. Since your body extracts water from many foods in order to stay hydrated, you won’t have to drink water when you’re savoring a luscious smoothie (especially a homemade one without sugar). Since milk and yogurt are mostly water, dairy-based smoothies quench your thirst.
Did you know that FAGE Greek yogurt has a whopping 22 protein grams and only 80 calories per cup? There is also calcium for bone strength and the smoothie keeps you from indulging in empty carbohydrates. I’m liking this!
Ingredients You Need for a Healthy Mixed Berry Smoothie
Healthy Mixed Berry Protein Smoothie Recipe
- frozen mixed berries , any berries like blackberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries and raspberries
- vanilla almond milk, unsweetened or sweetened can be used
- vanilla FAGE Greek Yogurt or your favorite Greek yogurt
Instructions How to Make Berry Smoothies
Berry smoothies are super easy to make, just toss your ingredients in a blender and give it a blend!
- In blender, add in yogurt, mixed berries and almond milk. Cover and blend on high speed about on high speed 30 seconds to 1 minute or until blended well.
- Serve immediately. That’s it!! Enjoy!
More Ways to Boost Your Smoothie
- There are plenty of Greek yogurts out there that are flavored if you want to add some extra fruity flavor to your smoothie, like strawberry, blueberry or raspberry, or you can opt for plain Greek yogurt!
- If you want even more healthy proteins you can add a scoop of your favorite protein powder, some chia seeds, hemp seeds or flax seeds, oats, spinach, kale, coconut oil and/or almonds (p.s. you may have to add a little more almond milk). Take your pick of options!!
- If you want to make this smoothie sweeter, add in a teaspoon of honey, agave or maple syrup or add some frozen banana slices to the mix for some sweetness.
- If you have fresh berries, they are the perfect addition to this berry smoothie recipe as well as frozen berries. However, frozen berries will make it thicker so it depends if you’d like your smoothie to have the texture of a drink or thicker like a milkshake.
- Nut butters? Throw in a tablespoon or two of any kind of nut butter for more healthy fats like peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter or sunbutter seed butter!
- Milks? Add any kind you like! WE love using a plant-based milk like almond milk, but there are so many varieties out there like oat milk, cashew milk or coconut milk! We love choices! You can also add a little orange juice for some extra vitamin c!
Adding Eggs?
And if you want to be real ambitious for your morning smoothie or post workout smoothie, add a couple raw egg yolks (I suggest using fresh, organic farm eggs and wash the shells to avoid salmonella). I’m not that ambitious but my husband has done it many times in his protein drinks.
So just wondering, would you add in the raw eggs? If so, you are the man or wo-man! Cheers to you!
In conclusion, incorporating a healthy mixed berry smoothie with Greek yogurt into your diet can have numerous benefits for your overall well-being.
Not only does it provide a delicious and refreshing way to start your day, but it also packs a powerful punch of nutrients and antioxidants. Through the use of fresh, seasonal berries and protein-rich Greek yogurt, this smoothie is not only good for your taste buds, but for your body as well. Cheers to good health and happy blending!
