Ok, I have to tell you upfront. I do not *repeat* “DO NOT” like Mountain Dew. I have some off-the wall thoughts on it what I think it tastes like, I will spare you that. LOL! BUT, I do love it in these cupcakes.

Mountain Dew Cupcakes Recipe
- 1 box White Cake Mix
- eggs
- canola oil
- Mountain Dew
- Lime Jell-O
- yellow dye, optional
- lemon extract or lemon juice
Mountain Dew Buttercream Frosting Recipe
- unsalted butter, softened
- Mountain Dew
- Lime Jello mix
- cream or milk
- lemon extract
- powdered sugar
- Optional: 2-3 drops yellow dye
- Lucky charms and sprinkles
How to Make Lucky Charm Mountain Dew Cupcakes
Mountain Dew Cupcakes
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Line a muffin tin with liners.
- Mix up cake mix with all the ingredients mentioned and bake cupcakes according to directions on box.
- Do not overfill, about ⅔ full should be good. (Even if you do, it’s ok!)
- Bake for 15 minutes, watch them carefully, these burn easily. Use a toothpick to test for doneness.
Mountain Dew Buttercream Frosting
- Beat butter till creamy and smooth.
- Add in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, making sure to combine completely.
- Once all the powdered sugar is combined, add the remainder of the ingredients and beat well.
- Frost cooled cupcakes either with a filled pastry bag with a round tip, or snip a hole out of a ziplock bag and pipe onto the cupcakes.
- Add some lucky charms and sprinkles!
- So good!
- I think you could try a lemon cake mix, omit the lemon extract or juice if you do, with the exception of the frosting, leave it in there for this Mountain Dew Cupcakes Recipe!

Frosted cupcakes can be put in an airtight container with a tightly sealed lid. Make sure the container is deep enough so you don’t smash the tops of your finished cupcakes.
