Why We Love Our Chex Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars Recipe!
First of all, peanut butter and chocolate chex cereal bars sound amazing, and they taste even more amazing than I can even explain! We love the way the melted peanut butter, salt and honey gets all intertwined in all those little crevices of the honey Chex. YUM!
Also, adding peanut butter to the milk chocolate ganache gives it a nice creaminess to the chocolate topping.
The bars are great without the chocolate peanut butter ganache, if you want to leave it off. It’s just a preference, right? But I’m all about the chocolate peanut butter ganache on top!
I like to call these chex bars a.k.a “can’t resist bars“, because eating more than just one will not happen, when you take that first unforgiving bite.
Been there, done that…can’t resist these!
No Corn Syrup in These Chex Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
Happily, these no bake chex bars aren’t made with corn syrup, like a lot of no-bake bar recipes use. We used honey instead to add some sweetness like corn syrup, but healthier option and since the chex are honey flavored, it seems it all goes together well!
Normally corn syrup is a preferred glue to keep the bars together, (and you can use corn syrup, if you wish in this recipe) but your favorite local honey does the trick very well indeed and I prefer using any healthier alternatives to corn syrup wherever I can.
I just used 1/2 the amount from the original recipe called for and the bars held together well. We’ve cut out a lot of sugar by reducing the sugar by a 1/2 cup, so how about that? That always makes me feel a little better after the fact after indulging. *LOL*

How to Cut Chex Bars
- The easy way to cut bars easily is to line the pan with heavy-duty or nonstick foil. Once the chocolate is set, use foil to lift bars out of pan, then cut. It also makes cleanup extra easy.
Are These Chex Bars Gluten Free?
- Rice and Corn Chex are both gluten-free. If you buy other cereal or candy brands, you will need to check those individual packages to be sure.
Can I Use Something Other Than Chex?
- The crunch and texture provided by the rice Chex are delicious, but you could certainly substitute in your own favorite cereal. You could even use a mixture of leftover cereals from the bottom of several cereal bags to make some bars, plus this is also a great money-saving tip.
Prep Ahead & Storing Chex Bars
- You can definitely make these no bake bars the day before a party or gathering.
- Store – Any leftovers should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature. It’s best to eat them within a few days before they dry out and become stale.
