Tips for Pretzel Crust

  • You can spray your pan with a non-stick cooking spray as a precautionary measure before adding the pretzel mixture to press into the pan, that way it slides out of the pan easier.
  • The melted butter should be cooled down somewhat, if it’s really hot before adding it to the pretzel crumbs and sugar.
  • Make sure the pie crust isn’t too chunky when you crush the pretzels into crumbs, unless you are making a layered dessert or trifle type dessert.  For using in a pie, the pretzel crumbs should be a little finer, though there will still be some pretzel chunks, but this ensures that the crust will stay together better with the other ingredients.
  • Besides baking this crust, you can also place the crust in the freezer to freeze for 10 minutes to make your pie crust firmer.  By baking the crust, it will be a little more crisper, but you don’t want to overbake it too much, or that will may make it harder to get out of your pan. Same with the freezer, over freezing may make the pie crust too hard to get out of your pan.

In conclusion, pretzel pie crust may seem like an unconventional choice, but it’s a surprisingly delicious addition to any dessert recipe. This unique crust allows for endless possibilities and adds a satisfying crunch to your favorite treats. So elevate your pies, impress your tastebuds and discover the amazing taste and versatility of pretzel pie crust.
