When You Make Puppy Chow Tips
- When you make puppy chow, muddy buddies or whatever you call them, make sure you coat them entirely with the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture for the first step.
- We used equal parts of each to get the creamy, chocolate coating on all the nooks and crannies of the Chex cereal.
- If you add too much cereal, then the powdered sugar won’t adhere to the chocolate-peanut butter mixture. Melt some more chocolate and peanut butter if happens to be the case.
- The other thing you want to do is, let them slightly cool and them coat them powdered sugar. If you add the powdered sugar to coat the Chex mix while it’s warm, it will soak up the powdered sugar. Then you’ll have to add more, which is fine, but you’re adding extra sugar.
- Add some red, white and blue M&M candies and whatever else you want to customize your party mix! We added in some marshmallows!

Thank you so much Jessica! Yea, I agree with ya for serving, add some on top for those colors to pop! Happy 4th to you!
So good and so easy. Followed the recipe exactly. I think next time I’ll add in the M&Ms at the very end before I serve so the colors pop more, but soo good!
These are so good and very easy to make. I didn’t use a baggie to coat them w/powdered sugar and used something else that I could wash up afterwards. Perfect 4th of July snack! Thanks for sharing.
