Ingredients Needed for Reese’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
- 1 box yellow cake mix, like Pillsbury
- eggs
- vanilla
- melted butter
- almond milk milk, cream or water will also do
- salt
- milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips if you want it not as sweet
- peanut butter chips
- Mini Reese Cups or peanut butter cups of choice
How to Make Reese’s Chocolate Chip Cake Mix Cookie Bars
- Take an 8×8 or 9×9 pan, and spray with a nonstick spray. (For thicker 8×8 and thinner 9×9, I prefer the thicker, as pictured.)
- Using mixer or by hand, mix cake mix, salt, eggs, vanilla, milk, melted butter until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and Mini Reese Cups.
- Spread batter into the pan and smooth out with an angled spatula that has been sprayed with a non-stick spray or use lightly spray hands with non-stick spray and press into pan. Dough will be very sticky.
- Barely press some chocolate chips and Reese Cups into the top of the cookie. The bars will rise, so you don’t want to push them deep into the cookie batter.
- Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes, until light golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely on cooling rack before cutting.
Pro Baking Tip
Lining your baking pan with foil or parchment paper and then spraying with a non-stick spray is a technique you can use for less mess when making brownies or bars. It’s easy to lift out of the pan onto the cooling rack.

Sorry Cathy, I wouldn’t do it, but here’s a link that might help you out: http://cooking.stackexchange.com/questions/42933/could-i-substitute-peanut-butter-in-place-of-butter-or-crisco-for-cookies. Hopefully that helps! If it does work out for you, let us all know!!
I’d like to try using peanut butter instead of butter – would it be the same amount?
