How to Make Perfect Brown Butter
To make classic browned butter, place your butter in a thick-bottomed saucepan or skillet, and place over medium heat.
Add the butter swirling the pan often and stirring with a whisk or rubber spatula, until the butter foams and turns a deep golden brown and has a nutty aroma – this process should take 3-5 minutes. Watch carefully as lightly browned specks begin to form at the bottom of the pan, as you don't want them to burn.
Remove the butter from the heat and pour into a bowl to stop the butter from cooking further.
Use browned butter immediately (you may need to cool it a bit before adding it to a batter) or store covered in the refrigerator for up to a week.
