Homemade Chocolate Brownies Recipe
If Using Boxed Brownie Mix
Coconut Pecan Frosting Recipe
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz (not evaporated milk)
- 3 egg yolks slightly beaten
- ½ cup unsalted butter or salted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ⅓ cups sweetened coconut flakes
- 1 cup pecans chopped
- a pinch of salt or 2 if using unsalted butter

How to Make Homemade Chocolate Brownies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray an 8x8 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Line with parchment paper for easier removal, if desired.
In a medium bowl, whisk together cooled melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Whisk in the unsweetened cocoa powder, flour,baking powder and salt until until well blended and spread in pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Let brownies cool, before frosting.
How to Make Boxed Brownie Mix
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray an 8x8 inch or 9x9 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Line with parchment paper for easier removal, if desired.
Stir brownie mix, milk, oil and eggs in medium bowl until well blended and spread in pan.
For 8x8 pan, bake 45-50 minutes and a 9x9 pan, bake 32-36 minutes.
Let brownies cool, before frosting.
How to Make Coconut Pecan Frosting
Stir together sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks and butter in medium saucepan.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, for about 10 minutes, until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
Remove mixture from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, coconut and pecans.
Allow to cool for 15 minutes before spreading on brownies. Makes about 2-2/3 cups frosting.
